Joe got his start in the food and beverage industry over twenty years ago in Akron, Ohio. He found that cooking, waiting tables and bartending were the perfect way to enjoy the outdoors during the day, and to make money after the sun goes down. Fortunately, he discovered that he was actually good at it, and developed a passion for food, hospitality and the search for the perfect drink.
For the last eight years, Joe has been the bar manager at Montana Ale Works, Montana’s undisputed beer hub. He has been at the forefront of the Montana Microbrew industry, bringing craft beer from around the region to downtown Bozeman. Joe has completed his level one Sommelier training and is a Cicerone certified beer server. His creativity shines in his use of craft spirits to create unique infusions and delicious cocktails, utilizing both turn-of-the century recipes and modern mixology.
Joe finds Bozeman to be the perfect place to call home as it allows him to get outside frequently to kayak the local rivers or to ski Montana mountains with his friends and family. Joe’s life would not be complete without his wife, Krista, and their joyful daughter, Rumi.
Noah developed an interest in hospitality at a young age, doing anything he could to work in restaurants in middle school. Working for Danny Meyer during the opening of Tabla and Eleven Madison Park shaped Noah’s philosophy of engaged hospitality for years to come.
Noah moved to Bozeman to attend MSU in 2002 and his passion for bartending was developed behind the bar at Boodles. After years in Bozeman, Noah returned to New York to pursue positions at PJ Clarke’s and Thomas Keller’s Per Se. While at Per Se he worked as a Captain and received sommelier-level wine training. In 2011 Noah started his own event management and consulting business, planning private events for restaurants in the Washington DC area and allowing him to return to Bozeman. Honored to partner with Albert McDonald and Joe Barnett, the trio started Sidecar Bar Service and re-opened the Mint Cafe and Bar in 2015.
Noah is passionate about the world of hospitality. In his free time Noah can be found hiking and skiing in the mountains of Montana with his wife, Carrie and their dog Sydney.
Born into a restaurant family, Albert has been in the hospitality business since being able to handle a paring knife without hurting himself. His Montana restaurant experience has led to being part of opening and/or managing restaurants in Bozeman, Missoula, Great Falls, Kalispell & Billings over the last 22 years. Most recently a partner and General Manager of Montana Ale Works for the last 9 years, Albert & Ellen McDonald are extremely excited to now be the owners of Pizza Campania, in Bozeman, MT & the Cantina @ Rio Sabinas, a fully licensed All Beverage bar, in Belgrade, Mt.
When not working at their respective careers (Albert in the restaurants, Ellen as an RN @ Bozeman Deaconess Hospital), Albert & Ellen can be found with their two children, Chloe & Ben, floating down the rivers, camping in the forests, or skiing in the mountains of the Greater Yellowstone region.
